Developed Sketchup

Compacted

Straight
Dotted

Above: One
Below:Infinity

This is my developed sketchup model including 3 textures that I have chosen from my 36 textures. I have chosen these textures to show the relation to the model artist's work and to the component structure of the building. Also when I was choosing these textures, I tried to choose the ones that would create a sense of harmony to each other when they are side by side.

The above studio space is for Tracey Moffat. I have placed the stairs on both ends to show the reflection and symmetry of the studio. The reason I have placed the stairs near the top is to give a different view of her work from a different point in the studio. I have placed Tracey Moffat's studio above the ground because her work shows the relationship of sports players supporting each other which happens on the ground, so I found it appropriate to place the studio space on the ground and I also thought that her studio should be portrayed under more light to show the brightness of light and a feeling of support and a sense of becoming one.

The ground below has stairs that goes down in a spiral shape. By making the stairs in this spiral shape, it gives a portrayal of infinite stairs that stretch below ground. The reason I have chosen Fiona Hall as the under ground is to show the strong idea in her work of 'Understorey'. Like the title of her work, her studio needs to go down under to help her to come up with this idea of a skull using in a delicate method. I also thought that her studio should be shown in a dark space, away from the light, because the skull represents the end of life and by being under the ground it reflects images such as the dead and caves of the tombs.

Stair youtube

I have chosen this stair YouTube because it makes the viewers to see the stairs as moving. By this it makes the design of this stairs fascinating. It makes us to imagine that when we walk on that stairs we will move across while we are standing on top it. I like how this stair is creative and unique. This type of stair will suit for place like gallery.

2nd Draft Sketchup Model

Above: One
Below: Infinity
For this sketchup model I am going to use concrete for both above and below. But for the above section only the outer frame is going to be concrete and inside part is glass except above and below surface. I have placed a lot of figure of people to show the scale of the building size.

Materials and Production of Hall and Moffat

Fiona Hall, 'Understorey' (1999-2004)
Material used: Glass beads, silver wire, rubber, boar's teeth
Method: Hall's Understorey employs glass beads threaded onto wire to create three-dimensional objects depicting elements of plant and human material. The use of camouflage patterning aptly depicts the juxtaposition of nature and the conflicts over territory threatening it.

Tracey Moffat, 'Fourth' (2001)
Material used: Photograph of sportspeople from the 2000 Summer Olympic Games
Method: Moffat's work since 2000 has retreated from specific locales and subject matter and become more explicitly concerned with fame and celebrity. Moffat has taken series photograph of sportspeople from the 2000 Summer Olympic Games coming fourth in their various competitions.

Stair Sections

Above: Supportive
Below: Infinity

Above: One
Below: Infinity

The last section drawing of the model, I have changed the bottom drawing which was sprial image, I have placed that image in side way to give the image that I have drawn above.
The reason that I have changed the shape in a side way is to give strong relationship to the word that I have used, 'infinity'. By putting it on the side it will help me to build up the stairs that goes under like endless that we do not know where the bottom is.
The top image is my sketchup model with stairs placed in it.
Both images show front and side section view of the model.

Sketchup draft 1

Above: Supportive
Below: Infinity

In my first sketchup from one of my section drawings, the materials for the parts of the building will be concrete for the underground section. The reason I have chosen concrete for the below, is that it is placed underground and it will need to have a strong support to stay and look safe and stable. The parts of the building for the above ground section will have different texture tiles for the rectangular part and glass for the spherical part.
I have worked a little on my first draft image just to give a sense of a more realistic image. I have applied some textures on the components to my 3D model to show the colour composition and what it might look like.

18 Sections

These are the 18 section images. I used Hall and Moffit.
Hall: Infinity, End, Individual
Moffit: One, Insiprit, Supportive

Something beautiful

This is the photo that I took, and I did this when I was waiting for my friends at Starbucks. I tried to make different types coins to stand up on a table and I managed to make 3 coins to stand together. One 50 cent coin, and two 10 cent coins. These coins are New Zealand coins. Out of my original photos, I personally believe that this photo is the best.

Architecture

I chose this piece of architecture, because I liked how the modern building and the existing building had composed good balance between each other even though they were joined together. In my view this piece of architecture showed the past and the future emerging. Also, I like how the modern building had cut through the actual building; which made the existing building to sink inside the modern buildings.

Creative work at high school

This is the work that I did last year in high school. I did painting as one of my subjects and the theme of this painting is dealing with buildings in my city (Christchurch). I collaged a lot of different buildings by placing them on top of each other as well as joining buildings together to make one. I started with photogenic drawings and developed to an abstract style of painting. The painting shows richness by using oil paints and lean medium and finishing with varnish. To develop the painting to an abstract style, I used Dieter Roth, Clifford Still, and a few other artist's models.
