Development of Concept

I have developed concept from the developed analysis and narrative.

This concept drawing illustrates human interaction to the music. So the centered room with musical instrument elements around it gives strong relationship of human with the music. This will be also seen from the sight which gives strong connection to environment and this building as well.

Development of Analysis & Narrative

I have analyzed further of my painting to produce deeper thought for the narrative and analysis.

Analysis:

• Is it really Exposed or Not?

The first impression of the painting appears to be exposed because of the openings from the door and the window. By having two openings, one door and one window, this illustrates free flow through the space in this room. Also the intense light from the window brightens up the painting and this makes good harmony with the expressions of people in the room.

On the other hand, it looks like a private space for musical people, where they have private practice for performance or for their leisure activity. This private room allows them to have group communication by themselves which is separated from outside community. It looks concealed because people in this room are placed near window and by this it makes the room to be small. It looks like the room is small so they are pushed to one side of the room which makes them feel warm from the sunlight.

Narrative:

1. A private snapshot of a secluded forum of human interaction and musical empowerment.

2. Harmonious interaction between aristocratic instruments to the ballad tempo.

Concept for model

For my concept for this project model, I have focused on one of the character in the painting. Which is the lady in the center who seems like she's singing a song a long with the music that is played from instruments.

I have focused on her and her clothing linings. So in my concept drawing I have placed the room in the center with the light entering that room very intensely, giving most of the light into that room like in the painting the light shines on her. Building as symmetrical is like her clothes lining separating evenly. On each side of that building with the gaps is like the drop of her clothes in different layer and in my building it will compose different length of lighting entering the building. By different length of lighting it will compose a movement into the building as well. Also by having different length for the gaps it will reflect back to the theme of the music, different rhythm produced by singer and instruments.

Site

My site will be placed in Delft, a city and municipality in the province of South Holland, the Netherlands. The reason I have chosen this site is because Pieter de Hooch works are dutch painting, I thought that it would be suitable to have the painting and my design of the building to have a relation to site and actual painting theme of place.

I'm going to place my designed building in Delft Canal, which is placed along the canal. The reason for doing this is to show the rhythemical movement in Delft city. The waters in canal reflects the flow of melody produced from instruments and singer. Also I personally think that it will suit very well with the atmosphere of Delft Canal daily life. Which I will reflect on the concept of Pieter de Hooch's paintings. He focused his painting to domestic scenes and family portraits. His work showed astute observation to the mundane details of everyday life. And by putting my building in this site will suit painting concepts and Pieter de Hooch's meaning of his paintings.

Project Two

Pieter Hooch, The Musical Conversation

Narrative: The rhythemic conjecture of a musical soloist in the exposer/spacious yet joyful forum.

Analysis: This painting looks very joyful by the lighting and the expression of the characters in the painting. Especially on the center positioned character, who looks like she's singing a song to the melody that is played. Its also looks like a daily activity or either once a weekly activity, they have a musical meeting or maybe practice for performance they could be preparing. All the characters faces looks very happy, which looks like they are enjoying what they are doing.

By having the window and door open it looks like the space is exposed or either spacious by these two openings. Also by the sun light coming in from the window makes the room to appear as if the room is large and open space to the environment.
